Flourishment

The next Flourishment event will answer, “What are the core elements of a flourishing business?” Learn more and register at leafinstitutegreenville.org.

In 1944, the owners of seven Napa Valley vineyards did something that had never happened before. They started meeting together monthly and sharing what they knew about making wine. You see, Napa Valley had been making wine for about 100 years by that point, but it had never been any good. They wanted it to be great.

So what happened? After only three decades of getting together, two Napa Valley wines won a blind tasting at the international wine competition in Paris. The Europeans were shocked. How was such a thing possible, and in such a short amount of time?

Some of us in town love that Napa Valley story. We’re not in the wine business, but we know there are a lot of great businesses doing wonderful things here in the Upstate. We also know that we’re not usually spending time together, not learning from one another.

That’s why some business leaders in Greenville started an event called Flourishment. It’s a monthly luncheon for local business leaders who care about human flourishing. April will be our third month, and we’ve already hosted talks and conversations with leaders from companies that do building, architecture, coffee, motorsports, marketing, tree care, and many other industries. Flourishment is hosted by the Leaf Institute, a center for faith, vocation and art in the Village of West Greenville.
